The Midlothian Advertiser has teamed up with the popular Dalhousie Castle Hotel & Spa to offer our young readers the chance to showcase their artistic talents around the world.
Traditionally, selecting a company Christmas Card is one of the hardest things to do, no-one can ever agree on the picture on the front of it!

The management at Dalhousie Castle Hotel & Spa have come up with their own solution for the 2009 card,
which will be received by their guests around the world.

For the first time ever they're inviting the young people of Midlothian to come up with the image for them – via the Advertiser.

All the category winners will each receive an invitation for their families (up to two adults and three children) to come for lunch and the winning class will enjoy a falconry experience (up to 25 people).

Alison Mathewson, General Manager at Dalhousie Castle, said: "We see this as great opportunity to promote the Castle and the local talent around the world.

"I'm sure this is a busy final term, however entries don't have to be done in class and I'd be delighted to welcome any young artists to the Castle to have a look around if it will help them get inspiration for their painting.

"This is a first for us and I'm really looking forward to receiving entries and seeing the winning picture on our Christmas Card."

Jo Robinson, editor of the Midlothian Advertiser, said: "I'm sure there's a huge amount of artistic talent amongst our local youngsters and what better way to celebrate that than by sending their work around the world?"

See this week's Midlothian Advertiser - on sale now - for details and entry form.
