PENICUIK residents are being urged to come out in force to clean up one of the town's woodland walks on Sunday.
Crockett Gardens resident Doug Downie has organised a litter pick-up through Cuiken Glen, which lies between Edinburgh Road and Rullion Road.

Doug, who is a volunteer at The Ecology Centre, Craigencalt, Fife, explained: "There was an advert locally about cleaning up Penicuik and the chap saying if anyone wanted to clean up areas he said there was use of handpickers and gloves available.

"I just saw the mess (at Cuiken Glen) and was spurred on to do something. It is quite a mess around there."

Volunteers should meet at the YMCA YWCA car park at Queensway at 10am.

Anyone interested in helping should contact Doug on 01968 675920. It will also help him gauge numbers and allow him to contact volunteers in the event of bad weather.
