Delight as Penicuik fund hits its target
THE £3,000 target to help a young Penicuik stroke victim has been reached within a matter of weeks.
The local community rallied round to meet the cost of a special support chair for 26-year-old Joanna Leighton, who also suffers from multiple sclerosis.
Since news of Joanna's plight appeared in the Advertiser in March, residents and community groups have donated much-needed funds to Joanna's mum Frances Leighton.
Most recently local cafe owner Jean Crawford and friend Ann Thomson organised a sponsored walk along the cycle/walkway, which raised 1403 for the appeal.
