Film star Tom Hanks donates to Rosslyn Chapel work
OSCAR winner Tom Hanks has given his financial backing to the conservation work at the famous Rosslyn Chapel.
Hanks appeared as Professor Robert Langdon in the film version of Dan Brown's bestseller The Da Vinci Code.
He and co-stars Audrey Tatou and Paul Bettany filmed at the Roslin church for a week in September 2005.
News of Hanks' support came during the announcement of a 50,000 award from landfill recycling group WREN towards the new education centre, which will officially open to the public in September.

The chapel's fundraising manager Dianne Stein told the Advertiser there had been an "intense level" of fundraising over the past two years, with applications made across the world to meet the 8.575 million costs for the conservation of the chapel and the new education centre. The centre itself will cost 3.7m.
Ms Stein added: "Tom Hanks sent a very generous donation."
The WREN funding, which distributes landfill tax money, will be used to purchase four listening booths.
In addition, the cash will be used to create an interactive timeline lectern, which will be suitable for visitors of all ages and abilities.
