Loanhead gala celebrations get under way
Hundreds of spectators are expected to flock to Loanhead town centre on Saturday for the crowning of Gala Queen Clare Brown.
The ceremony, which dates back more than 100 years, will take place on Fountain Green at 10.45am.
The crowning will be performed by Mrs Heather Monteith. This year's Herald is Sam Jones.
A week of celebrations has been leading up to the gala day, starting with the carnival parade last Friday.
Two pages of pictures from the carnival parade plus full details of this week's events in this week's Midlothian Advertiser - on sale now. Queen Clare and other court principals will return to the park at 2pm to lay a wreath at the war memorial. Members of the public wishing to attend this part of the day should assemble for 1.45pm.
