Meals shake-up
Re: Shake-up of meals on wheels service (Advertiser, February 4).
No, not everyone was in favour of frozen meals and yes, there is some contact with families.
But how often and how many elderly have no contact at all? What about the ones who are not able to heat up a meal?
Is the council going to let them die from malnutrition or are they going to be prepared to send in a carer to make sure meals are eaten, another cost to the council?
There have been no risks for the elderly during the recent cold spell as meals were delivered as normal due to the caring drivers and helpers. These friends do more than deliver meals.
They make sure that clients are safe, feel well and post the occasional letter.
Is this all the thanks they get probably losing their jobs? I think you will find changing to frozen meals will turn out more expensive than anticipated.
But no doubt they have made up their minds on the subject.
