Midlothian roundabouts all look the same!

Is it me, or do others who only occasionally drive the roads to Dalkeith, Gorebridge, Eskbank, Newtongrange, etc from the south end of Edinburgh find all the new roundabouts in this area in their present state confusing and looking all too similar to each other?

Just an idea, but how about Midlothian Council, or others, arranging to make roundabouts distinctive, each with a special feature?

Related to the history of the county, the following could be considered, a St Andrew's Cross, a thistle, a sword and shield, a coal pick and shovel, a tractor, a plough, all large and simply made in a welded sculpture form in the middle of the roundabout.

Other sculptures which would be distinctive could include a windmill, a boat, a butterfly, a fish, a horse, a teapot, etc and to make it really interesting and of local interest, a competition could be offered across the local schools for good ideas.

Just a thought, but possibly some local businesses could be encouraged to sponsor a roundabout feature too.
