Midlothian talent takes to stage at Edinburgh Festival Fringe

Midlothian entertainers are preparing to showcase their talent as the festival season hits Edinburgh.

Gorebridge's James Bryce, will see his piece of musical theatre, Whisky Kisses, performed by students of The Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama.

James (58), an actor, composer and occasional scriptwriter who has lived in Gorebridge for 18 years, composed the music for Whisky Kisses.

Performance

The performance first had theatre goers in stitches when it was entered into a competition in 2005.

James explains: "It's about the auction of the best and greatest whisky ever made, the last bottle of the 100-year-old Glenigma."

Laughs

Another performance sure to raise belly laughs is diary salesman Eric Davidson's "A Tan's a Tan for A' That".

Raised in Newtongrange and now living in Pathhead, Eric, who is already a successful performer on the after-dinner speaking circuit, will be breaking new ground when he takes his show to Edinburgh.

Eric, who has two young daughters and works for Dalkeith-based Charles Letts, said: "I've wanted to do a one-man show at the Fringe for years and am very excited about the show."

Drama

In a dramatic debut, Woodburn's Any Dream Will Do star Keith Jack will take to the stage again in Only the Brave - a new musical set in World War II.

It tells the tale of a husband and wife separated by war, a young soldier who finds love and a band of brothers who gave the ultimate sacrifice.

The love story, which is inspired by true events, will feature a cast and live orchestra of more than 30.
