MIDLOTHIAN: The largest crowd for many years turned out for the benefit game at Kings Park on behalf of goalkeeper George McGauley. A spirited Dalkeith Thistle side gave the visiting Glasgow Rangers a hard tussle.

1988

DALKEITH: Midlothian District Council has chosen the design for its new £4.5 million headquarters building in the centre of Dalkeith. Four Lothian architectural firms were invited to submit designs for the 4000 square metre building, which will be built at Buccleuch Street.

1998

PENICUIK: Stepping Forward was holding crisis talks yesterday in en effort to stave off closure. The Penicuik-based group, which provides advice and support to young families with young children, fears it will close in December.
