1964

LASSWADE: Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Town Council are angered at the Secretary of State for Scotland’s decision to suspend school building in Midlothian for a year, as they fight on for a new Lasswade Primary School.

1989

DALKEITH: District and regional councillors are to get together in an attempt to decide the fate of the former Dalkeith Colliery. Mid and East Lothian District Councils want to use to site for a joint venture to develop a site for travelling people but local stock car promoter Gordon McDougall plans a multi-sports complex and racing circuit.

1999

LOANHEAD: TRANSform Scotland has condemned Midlothian Council for its planning application for a new dual carriaged A701 between Straiton and Milton Bridge.
