DALKEITH: Dalkeith man Mr J Smith, Tait Street, will receive a £5 prize from Dalkeith and District Round Table. He was the winner of a balloon race. His balloon travelled to the Isle of Stronsay in Orkney.

1989

NEWTONGRANGE: Supporters vowed this week to continue their fight to keep stock car racing despite a decision by Scottish Secretary Malcolm Rifkind to reject an appeal against the refusal of planning permission for racing at Newtongrange.
