1964

BONNYRIGG: “The development of open spaces in the burgh of Bonnyrigg and Lasswade is coming along quite satisfactorily”. This was how councillor J. Young, convenor of the parks committee, described the effort made by the Town Council employees under the direction of the Burgh Surveyor, Mr E. Doherty.

1989

NEWTONGRANGE: Several top names in the world of sport and entertainment are expected to add their voices to the growing sport of stock car racing in the district this weekend. Dalkeith-born Derek Dick, better known as Fish, lead singer with Marillion, is just one of the stars who will attend a “farewell party” for the stock car racing at Newtongrange on Sunday.

1999

PENICUIK: Opposition has been voiced by Penicuik and District Community Council at plans to build 30 houses at Valleyfield. Midlothian Council’s regulatory services committee will consider the application.
