1964

BONNYRIGG: The putting green in Bonnyrigg will be ready for opening at the spring holiday weekend, but an attendant to look after the green cannot be found. This was reported to a meeting of the Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Town Council parks committee on Monday evening.

1988

MIDLOTHIAN: Police chiefs have assured district councillors that top priority is being given to tackling the problem of inter-town gang rivalry. The statistics put forward by the police showed that in 1988, 72 gang incidents had been recorded in Mid and East Lothian with 361 youths arrested.

1998

NEWBATTLE: Specialist contractors have been brought in to remove asbestos found in the ceiling of the children’s pool area at Newbattle Swimming Pool. The discovery was made during the refurbishment works at the pool.
