BRIDGEND: Land adjoining the Auction Market at Bridgend is to be used for council house building. This was decided at a meeting of Dalkeith Town Council on Monday when the subject came up for discussion on a motion by Councillor D.R. Smith that: “The area of ground adjacent to the Auction Market is to be used for the building of houses.”
MONKTONHALL: Churchmen, union leaders and politicians came together in Midlothian at the weekend with a message of support and solidarity for the miners of Bilston Glen and Monktonhall Collieries. More than 200 people filed into Loanhead Miners’ Welfare Club on Sunday morning for the launch of a mass campaign.
MIDLOTHIAN: HRH The Princess Royal toured the large hospital for small animals in the country when she visited Midlothian last week. The Princess, patron of the Royal (Dick) School of Vetinary Studies, was at the Easter Bush Vetinary Centre on Friday to officially open the new £7.5 million hospital.
