1964

DALKEITH: The Dalkeith Old Men’s Club is to close down, due to lack of support, and their clubrooms are to close. The death rate among members of the club has been very high in the last few years and as no new members have joined the numbers have dwindled. The members left have reluctantly decided to close.

1989

DALKEITH: Workmen are currently digging up the road at Lugton, near Dalkeith, only months after major road improvements were completed. The current work has left local Regional Councillor Helen Graham fuming, and she is demanding to know who is responsible.

1999

BONNYRIGG: A Bonnyrigg primary school is fighting to save half of their playground from Midlothian Council’s contract services who wish to claim it for a car park. St Mary’s Primary School backs onto the council’s Dundas Buildings which houses the contract services department and staff.
