1964

DALKEITH: Dalkeith Town Council have decided to erect a monument at Jarnac Court when the shopping centre has been completed. The cost will be in the region of £150.

1989

PENICUIK: A grant of £175,000 has been approved by the Secretary of State for Scotland for repairs to Penicuik South Church. The grant from the Scottish Development Department, will provide around 80 per cent of the £221,000 needed to eradicate dry rot from the building.

1999

MIDLOTHIAN: Midlothian Council has been “named and shamed” as the worst local authority in Scotland when it comes to settling its debts with private businesses and contractors.
