DALKEITH: Surprise visitors to Dalkeith last week were Mr and Mrs Eric Harrison from Dalkeith’s namesake town in Western Australia.

1989

DALKEITH: Lothian Regional Council is to be asked to step in to help solve parking problems in Dalkeith town centre. District councillors are to ask the region to acquire the site next to Dalkeith bus station for use as a public car park. The region is also to be asked to review its parking patrols policy.

1999

MIDLOTHIAN: The emotive subject of telecommunication masts, and the health fears they instil in the community, is being pursued by Midlothian councillors, who are furious at their inability to provide effective restrictions on mobile phone companies.
