DALKEITH: The 80,000 sq ft factory built at a cost of £250,000 at Thornybank, Dalkeith, for Charles Less & Co Ltd, publishers of diaries, was formally opened by Edward Heath, Minister of State for Industry.

1989

LOANHEAD: Paradykes Community Wing is seeking sponsors to help this year’s fireworks display go with a bang. Last year’s event cost £1000; to take account of inflation the budget is £1100.

1999

DALKEITH: Food giant Tesco has failed to respond to reports that it will close its Dalkeith store in January. Staff at Newmills Road are understood to have been notified that they will move to the new Hardengreen site when it opens in January.
