NEWTONGRANGE: The new £15,000 Midlothian County Library in Newtongrange opened on Monday.

1989

BONNYRIGG: Ten residents from Scollon Avenue were evacuated unscathed from their homes when a gas explosion rocked the street. The blast happened at 1.40am on Saturday and caused an estimated £100,000 worth of damage. The explosion could be heard in Dalkeith.

1999

DANDERHALL: Doctors at a Midlothian practice are being forced to spend vital funds protecting their surgery because of the actions of a“mindless minority of young thugs” who have wreaked havoc. GPs in Danderhall have warned that anyone caught vandalising the property will be struck from their books.
