1964

BONNYRIGG: A Christmas gift of £20,000 was given to Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Town Council for the purpose of building a town hall. The gifts – £10,000 each – came from Robert and William Young of Messers John E Young and Co, precast stone manufacturers.

1989

MIDLOTHIAN: A proposed Metro system for the city of Edinburgh has been given a cautious welcome by district councillors in Midlothian. The district council is to ask Lothian Region to consider extending the Metro into Midlothian in the future.

1999

PENICUIK: Council backing has been given for plans to transform Penicuik town centre. Consent has been granted for a new roundabout, relocation of the bus stop, alterations to the car parks, and landscaping at John Street.
