1965

DALKEITH: Delegates representing more than 26,000 Scottish busmen met in Dalkeith Labour Hall on Sunday to try and reach a decision on the action to be taken regarding their claim for better wages and working conditions.

1975

MIDLOTHIAN: Two Midlothian towns this week took different action over proposals to set up community councils after local government reorganisation in three months time. In Loanhead a public meeting came out in favour of forming one, but five miles away in Penicuik the idea was thrown out.

1990

EASTHOUSES: Members of Easthouses Church, which was attacked by vandals at the weekend, are being denied the right to worship in peace and safety by the “mindless behaviour”of a number of local youngsters. The congregation is now seeking the co-operation of the local community to find a solution.
