1965

DALKEITH: Three acres of land are to be made available to the Midlothian Indoor Bowling Group in order that the building of Dalkeith’s Indoor Bowling Stadium can be started.

1975

LOANHEAD: ASDA - the giant superstore complex - has drawn up plans to build a superstore in the heart of Midlothian. This could mean some 250 new jobs for the area. The company has chosen New Pentland, Loanhead, as its proposed new site.

1990

MAYFIELD: Workers at James Seddon’s Mayfield factory were this week “despondent” after the entire firm was put into the hands of receivers. Hopes had been high that the factory may be taken over by the giant Russell Corporation UK, who already have another factory in Mayfield.
