1965

DALKEITH: The Secretary of State for Scotland - Mr William Ross - has intimated that due to extreme pressures of work he will not be able to officially open the new council chambers in Dalkeith on June 5,

1975

LOANHEAD: Two firemen narrowly escaped being buried alive and two women were at first feared to be caught in a fire which gutted part of Loanhead Ex-Servicemen’s Club on Friday morning. The fire completely gutted the main hall and the club’s PA system was put out of action.

1990

DANDERHALL: Plans for a new health centre in Danderhall were finally given the go-ahead, following a hard-fought five year campaign by residents in the village. The final hurdle was cleared on Monday when plans for the site on the corner of Newton Church Road and Edmonstone Road were approved.
