1965

DALKEITH: Dalkeith Town Council’s proposals for the third phase of the town centre redevelopment have been approved by the County Planning Authority. Two stipulations were a better road junction between Buccleuch Street and Lothian Road and the return of two-way traffic on the High Street.

1975

MIDLOTHIAN: Midlothian District Council is to go ahead and appoint a park ranger for the district to deal with existing and proposed country parks.

1990

NEWTONGRANGE: Good Samaritans in Newtongrange have rallied round to help a pensioner whose house was gutted by fire. Within ten days of Mr Dickson (76) and his son John losing everything at their Beechwood Park home, locals have raised enough money to furnish their new home.
