1965

BONNYRIGG: An altar was set ablaze at the Church of Our Lady of Consolation in Eskdale Drive, Bonnyrigg, on Monday night. And a cloth was burned on the altar. There was a smash of glass, and a burning paper fell inside the 250-seat church. A boy dashed into the church to put out the smouldering paper and then ran for help.

1975

DALKEITH: Dalkeith could be getting a cinema/ theatre complex as part of the re-development scheme in Buccleuch Street. Dalkeith Town Council has been in consultation with Caledonian Associated Cinemas Ltd, who own the present cinema and bingo hall site, with a view to re-building in the future.

1990

WOODBURN: Plans are being made to set-up a food co-operative in the Woodburn area of Dalkeith. A public meeting held in Dalkeith Unemployed Workers’ Centre last week, attracted around 30 local residents who were interested in the proposal to set up a food co-operative in the area.
