1965

GOREBRIDGE: Arniston, Gorebridge and Vogrie District Gala Week celebrations concluded on Saturday with the colourful coronation of the school King and Queen, while over 1800 children marched in the parade from Gorebridge School to the school playing grounds at New Hunterfield.

1975

DALKEITH: There may be snags in the plan to provide a “community house” in the Kippielaw housing scheme. The plan drawn up by the former Dalkeith Town Council, is to provide a centre for social and community purposes. However changing the use of the house could prove to be too costly.

1990

LOANHEAD: A massive commercial development planned for Straiton could destroy Loanhead, shopkeepers have warned. Outline planning permission has been sought for a 60,000 sq ft supermarket, six shops, a petrol station, an industrial estate and up to 112 houses to be built next to the MFI store.
