1965

DALKEITH: Dalkeith High School is an excellent example of progressive education in the best sense of that phrase .Well that was the general verdict of parents who attended the exhibition of work in the High School on Tuesday and Wednesday evening. It’s difficult to single out any department as they all showed an interest.

1975

DALKEITH: A situation of “gross overcrowding” exists at Dalkeith High School in the opinion of Midlothian District Councillor Sam Campbell and he is calling for urgent action to be taken to alleviate this. Coun cillor Sam Campbell says the problem will get worse after the summer break.

1990

BONNYRIGG: Teenager Stephen Bell was given a glimpse of the life he yearns when he became “a soldier for a day” at Glencorse Barracks, near Penicuik. A sufferer of cerebral palsy, Stephen (15) knows he will never fulfil his ambition.
