1965

DALKEITH: A group of young people from Jarnac will be making a visit to Dalkeith in the near future. The group will consist of ten boys and 32 girls,all of whom are to be chaperoned by four adults. They are scheduled to arrive at Turnhouse Airport, Edinburgh from France at 1.30 on Wednesday morning, July 21. The party, average age 16 years, will stay with various families in Dalkeith for their three-week visit. This will be their first visit to the town.

1975

BORTHWICK: A public inquiry which could give the go-ahead for quarry work to begin in Borthwick might be postponed till October - if objectors to the plan get their way. The two day plan was scheduled for the 29-30 of July.

1990

DALKEITH: Simpson Label Company Ltd, the Dalkeith-based printing firm, was one of the seven successful candidates on a pilot training programme leading to the first Certificate in Management in the Printing Industry.

Gordon Sampson, a quality control manager at the Dalkeith firm, was one of seven young printers.
