DALKEITH: Teaching methods at Newbattle Abbey College are able to find out more quickly whether or not a student is fit for university. So said the Warden and Director of Studies of the college, Mr Charles L.Rigg, at the annual general meeting in Edinburgh of the college, which specialises in tuition for adult students. He said he would like to see more women attending at the college, as the few women who had attended had achieved a remarkable degree of success.
DALKEITH: A mystery guest from Scottish Television has been lined up to open this year’s Dalkeith Barbecue on Saturday,August 2. The 1975 barbecue promises to be the best one ever with a host of local groups organising and taking part in contests and show for all the family.
MIDLOTHIAN: A campaign for the re-opening of Monktonhall Colliery has been launched following a meeting of councillors and MPs. A working party will be set up to carry out a feasibility study.
