The Orange Order is taking Midlothian Council to court after it banned a Penicuik parade.
A preliminary hearing will be held at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Tuesday June 3.

The Midlothian branch of the Loyal Institution of Scotland launched an appeal after councillors refused an afternoon procession and altered the route of a morning parade in the town on Saturday June 28.

James MacLean, County Grand Master of the East of Scotland Area, said the court action was a "very important and fundamental" matter for the Orange Lodge.

"We feel our civil liberties are being violated.

"There is no history of disorder at any of our marches in Midlothian or indeed elsewhere," he told the Advertiser.
