BONNYRIGG man Peter Nisbet recently received a visit from Midlothian Provost, Adam Montgomery, to celebrate his 90th birthday.
Mr Nisbet was born at 89 Back Street, Dalkeith, in 1918 but moved to Bonnyrigg in 1922.

He still lives in the same house with family members.

Mr Nisbet fought around the globe during the Second World War, first in France, then as a Desert Rat in North Africa, and finally in Burma with the Chindits.

After the war, he returned to Bonnyrigg and married Sally, who died in 1986.

The couple had two sons. He worked at a succession of jobs, including time at the Moat Pit, Henry Widnell & Stewart's and Ferranti's.
