Call for action on town's roads

THE state of Loanhead's side streets has been criticised by community leaders.
During a discussion at Loanhead and District Community Council about the traffic congestion in Clerk Street, community councillors voiced concerns at the state of the road surface on some of the town's side streets.
Community council chairman Pat Kenny warned that motorists were already using George Avenue as a rat run to avoid the town centre. "George Avenue is horrendous.
"The road is pitted beyond belief. It is just terrible," he said.
Pot holes
Midlothian councillor Les Thacker said he had contacted commercial services to make them aware of the situation. "All we can do is fill them (the pot holes) up," he explained.
Loanhead gala chairman Ross Perfect pointed out that the holes had only been filled up the Friday prior to the community council meeting. "It has to be done every Friday until such time as a resurfacing contract is put out," said Mr Kenny.
