CONCERN has been expressed over the state of the walkway towards Straiton Retail Park from neighbouring houses in Loanhead.
At a recent Loanhead and District Community Council meeting, it was noted that there were at least 12 supermarket trolleys in the burn, and bushes and trees were full of polythene bags at the open space between the Dalum housing estate and Costco.

Chairman Pat Kenny agreed the area could do with the attention of a "hit squad" to clean it up.

Agreement

Midlothian councillor Russell Imrie said he would look into the situation.

Midlothian councillor Les Thacker pointed out he had also contacted commercial services, who are in talks with Peel Property, to see if an agreement could be reached.

Litter

"We are talking to them to see if we can come together and do something regarding that.

"They used to do right along from the bypass up to the Callyr Inn where you can see an awful lot of litter.

"It is in hand and they are talking to Peel so hopefully something will be done," he added.
