AN exhibition about the work of the Bevin Boys is to be held at libraries across Midlothian.
The Bevin Boys took their name from Ernest Bevin, Minister of Labour during World War Two. Bevin put together a programme to conscript men to work in coalmines across Britain. The workers did surface and underground work and made a vital contribution to the war effort.

Museum staff interviewed 25 Bevin Boys and used their stories to create a fascinating exhibition detailing their lives.

It starts at Loanhead Library on October 1.
