Loanhead school signs plea

NEW road direction signs for the Loanhead school campus are on order, the community council has been assured.
Loanhead and District Community Council School heard recently that emergency vehicles and delivery lorries had been unable to find the school buildings, which were recently opened at Ramsay Bing.

Parent Mary-Jane Imrie told the meeting that firefi
ghters attended at the old St Margaret's Primary School building when a toaster activated the alarm and, in a second incident, the fire brigade called at the former Loanhead Primary building in Academy Lane.

She added: "Myself and Gill Peacock (a parent council member) have e-mailed Midlothian Council and the fire stations. They said they didn't realise the school had moved but Midlothian Council did say they had informed them."

Erected

Midlothian councillor Les Thacker produced an update of developments in and around the new campus, which houses both St Margaret's and Loanhead Primary Schools.

New direction signs for Edgefield Road have been ordered as have 20mph signs, which will be erected along by the entrance to the nearby industrial estate.

Other developments include moving the school crossing patrol officer from Edgefield Road to Clerk Street at lunchtimes.
