MIDLOTHIAN companies blazing a trail in the development of renewable energy were visited by the Secretary of State last week.
Ed Miliband, Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change, joined local MP David Hamilton on a fact-finding visit to local research and development firms.
The tour finished with a visit to the Scottish Mining Museum where Mr Miliband was presented with a Davy lamp by former First Minister Henry McLeish, chairman of the museum's board of trustees, and director Fergus Waters.
Earlier Mr Miliband visited the Midlothian Innovation Centre, Pentlandfield, near Bilston, where he saw the work being carried out by AlbaTERN, which is developing the conversion of wave energy to electricity in remote marine locations.
