Police in Midlothian are hunting a man who threatened a pensioner with a knife and tried to force her to withdraw cash from an ATM.
The incident happened at Straiton Retail Park, Loanhead, at around 8.15pm on Thursday, December 18.

The 73-year-old victim was parked near to Boots and was sitting in her Mercedes car when the suspect approached brandishing a knife.

He entered the vehicle and ordered her to drive to the cash point at Sainsbury's, which is also in the retail park.

On arriving at the machine, the victim tried to use her bankcard, but failed to withdraw any money, and the suspect made off on foot towards IKEA.

The suspect is described as white, 18 to 22-years-old, 5ft 8ins to 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, with short brown hair, and stubble.

He was wearing a navy jacket with white cuffs, blue jeans, a navy blue hat with white Nike 'swoosh' motif, and navy blue scarf covering his face.

He spoke with a local accent.
