AN INQUIRY will be held this month into plans by the Boundary Commission for Scotland to alter the Scottish Parliamentary constituencies in Midlothian.
The hearing, which will take place in Loanhead, will discuss the Commission's provisional boundary change proposals, which were published for public consultation in February.

Similar inquiries will take place in Peebles and Musselburgh.

The Com
mission is proposing that the council areas should be divided into the Haddington constituency, North Midlothian and Musselburgh constituency, South Midlothian constituency, Tweeddale and Lauderdale constituency and Roxburgh, Selkirk and Berwickshire constituency.

In Midlothian, the local inquiry will be held at Loanhead Miners' Welfare Club on Tuesday, October 7 and Wednesday, October 8 from 10am onwards.

There will also be two further local inquiries later in the month — at the Eastgate Theatre, Peebles, on October 14 and 15 and at the Brunton Hall, Musselburgh, on October 16 and 17.

The inquiries will be conducted by Sheriff Principal Bowen and any interested party may attend to observe or to give evidence.

Information about the local inquiries is being made available in council offices and libraries, and is also available on the Commission's website at www.bcomm-scotland.gov.uk
