Thief raided house as pensioner slept

A THIEF entered the bedroom of an elderly, disabled woman as she slept, robbing her of £200, a Post Office card and a wallet.
The 72-year-old woman, who is wheelchair bound, had left her door unlocked.

The incident happened sometime between 2am and 8.30am on April 29 at her home on Greenhall Road, Gorebridge.

Reports have been received of a male taking unauthorised ph
otographs of children at Hawthornden Primary School, Bonnyrigg, on April 24. He is described as 6ft tall, wearing a green coat with the hood up. The incident may be connected with a previous report.

A Ford car had its roof jumped on causing damage worth £900, in Waverley Street, Mayfield, between 5pm on May 1 and 9.30am on May 2.

Damage in excess of £500 was inflicted upon a woman’s Vauxhall Corsa at Newton Church Road, Danderhall ,between 1.30am and 2am on May 1. Two rear tyres were slashed, the nearside wing mirror was broken and there was scratching to the nearside panel and door.

A motor scooter was stolen from Smithy Cottages, Newtongrange, sometime between 10pm on April 29 and 8.30pm on May 1. The Kymco 50cc is valued at £700.

A blue Rover Knightsbridge car was stolen from Eighth Street, Newtongrange, between the hours of 6pm on April 30 and 6am on May 1. The car was recovered nearby, having sustained damage to its ignition barrel.

A children’s mini moto was snatched from Carrick Crescent, Easthouses sometime between 5.45pm on May 1 and 8.50am on May 2. The red Malgooty bike is valued at £350.

A Dewalt drill, a Stanley tool box with tools, three crates of soft drinks and a crate of beer were stolen from a garden shed, which had its window smashed and its door forced open at Westhouses Street, Mayfield.

The incident took place between 9pm on May 1 and 6.30am on May 2.

An unoccupied house at Polton Road, Lasswade, was vandalised between April 24 and April 30, and damage caused to internal structures within.

Garden items were stolen from a house in Dalhousie Road East, Bonnyrigg, overnight on May 1 and May 2.

One male out of a group of four jumped on a row of cars at Polton Bank, Lasswade, and ran across them at around 2am on May 3. The culprit made off and there is no description of him.

The nearside wing mirror of a vehicle parked at Cockpen Drive, Bonnyrigg, was kicked off at around 2.30am on May 3.

A vehicle on the way from Bilston to Gowkley Moss was stopped and searched and controlled substances were found within at around 4.20pm on April 30. A 45-year-old male from Roslin was charged.

A storage container at Borthwick View in Pentland Industrial Estate, Loanhead, was broken into between 5pm on April 24 and 6.30pm on April 25.
