TRAVELLING people have been removed from a makeshift camp on the Dalkeith to Penicuik cyclepath.
The caravans, which were sited on the walkway between Rosewell and Rosslyn Castle station, were moved last week after Midlothian Council took legal action. A clear -p of the site has now been arranged.

A council spokesman added: "We are also aware of two separate encampments between Lasswade and the Edinburgh city bypass, and another site at Easter Cowden, just east of Dalkeith.

"The travelling site manager has visited these sites, and they are all on private land. It is therefore the responsibility of the landowners to take legal action."

Dalkeith Inspector John McGill told the Advertiser that police were aware of the camps at Dalkeith and Wadingburn and were closely monitoring the situation.
