Agents of SHIELD (Friday, November 29, Channel 4, 8pm)

Inspired by Stan Lee and Jack Kirby’s covert crime-busting comic book agency SHIELD, this smash hit series centres on Agent Phil Coulson (Clark Gregg).

Though ‘killed’ by the evil Loki in last year’s blockbuster Avengers Assemble, he staged a miraculous recovery, and now travels the world with his small army of skilled agents, ready to intercept more gifted villains.

In this week’s offering, Coulson and company are plagued by a deadly force that threatens them all. Could a secret from May’s past be their only hope of salvation?

While Agents of SHIELD started off with an impressive 12 million viewers across the Pond, in recent weeks it has levelled off with around seven million fans tuning in each week. It’s also a great advert for Marvel’s assorted other projects - as long as they’re backed by Disney of course.

Sadly there’s little chance of pending blockbusters The Amazing Spider-Man 2 or X-Men: Days of Future Past getting a mention in upcoming weeks.

Look Out For: Glasgow-born ex-Coronation Street star Iain De Caestecker (aka Adam Barlow), and Sheffield’s own Elizabeth (Hollyoaks) Henstridge.
