The Advertiser has helped a local gala prepare for its centenary celebrations and now they need your help.
Newtongrange Gala will mark its centenary with a week of events from June 2, culminating with the gala on June 8.
Susan Seib, of the Newtongrange Gala Committee, was recently joined by Advertiser reporter Kevin Quinn to sort through the archives at the Local Studies Unit in Loanhead for photos and articles to display during the gala week.
Susan was happy to find family photos at the local studies unit and appealed for memorabilia for the gala’s planned exhibition.
She said: “Some of the photos appeared to have been donated by families which is great as you see real life.
“Most people don’t want to see pictures of officials, they want to see the people they know, people in their families and old school friends.
“If anyone has any memorabilia from the gala, whether it be photos or anything really, it would be much appreciated and anything given to us would obviously be returned after the gala week.”

Former Newtongrange gala kings and queens are also being sought for the centenary.
