The Scottish Government has announced that from October 2014 all retailers will place a minimum 5p levy on plastic bags.
The move has been welcomed by wildlife charities as plastic bags have a detrimental effect on our countryside and seashores.
Money raised from the levy will be distributed to good causes by the retailers.
But what do you think? Is it a good move? Plastic bags are not bio-degradeable, they litter our streets, and damage the environment.
Or is this another tax on consumers? Shoppers frequently recycle their plastic bags.
Some forget to take their ‘bags for life’ when shopping. Forgetfulness could prove costly if you are doing a big shop.
