Midlothian Council’s housing programme has moved forward following the completion of 53 affordable homes.

The three and four-bedroom properties were recently handed over to the council by developers Taylor Wimpey.

The homes form part of the Hopefield housing development – a new settlement of 1100 homes located on the outskirts of Bonnyrigg. They are in addition to 32 affordable homes which were handed over to the council in 2009. The 53 new homes are a mix of three and four bedroom houses.

Councillor Owen Thompson (SNP), deputy leader and cabinet member for housing, pictured said: “These are top quality new homes which any family would be proud to live in. This marks another step forward in our housing programme which has seen 864 affordable new homes for Midlothian families built since 2006.”
