The Nation’s Favourite Elvis Song (Friday, November 8, ITV, 9pm)
What’s It All About? Elvis Aaron Presley was bitten by the music bug at an early age. By the late 1940s he was playing in high-school bands and, after spells as a truck driver and an usher, had enough of a following to cut a record for the Sun label. When RCA snapped him up in 1955 and he recorded the bluesy rock ballad My Baby Left Me, the world went crazy for him.
With the aid of archive footage and home videos, it pays tribute to the man behind the music, explains how these classic songs came about and the effect they had on the world.
Zoe Ball narrates the countdown, which includes Heartbreak Hotel, the song John Lennon, Cliff Richard and Keith Richards all claimed changed their lives; Hound Dog, which gave him the nickname ‘Elvis the Pelvis’, and A Little Less Conversation, which became a huge hit 25 years after his death.
Look Out For: A wealth of star guests adding their thoughts on the king of Rock and Roll, including Cliff, Michael Buble and Michael Ball.
Plus, there are thoughts from Priscilla Presley, Elvis’s ex-wife and mother to their daughter Lisa Marie.
