Amount of hanging baskets in the county to be halved

Local residents to be asked if they want to pay for hanging baskets as Midlothian Council is cutting the number of hanging baskets in the county.

The council is keeping a total of 220 baskets in Bonnyrigg, Penicuik Newtongrange, Dalkeith, Gorebridge, Loanhead, Danderhall, Mayfield and at Eskbank Toll.

However, in Bilston, Edgehead, Pathhead, Cousland, Auchendinny, Roslin, Rosewell, Carrington, Howgate, Fala and Straiton, the hanging baskets will be removed. If local communities wish to consider contributing towards the cost of hanging baskets or offer to help water the baskets, there is an opportunity for them to remain in these communities.
