A DEDICATED band of Penicuik life savers have had their achievements recognised by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

Penicuik First Responders were presented with the award for Working Together for Better Patient Care at a special ceremony held in Edinburgh.

The event was the first of three new ceremonies, sponsored by Scotmid, recognising the exceptional feats of ambulance staff in the east, west and north of the country.

The Penicuik group was up against other Responders from the whole of the south-east division and was nominated by a staff member from the ambulance service.

Ambulance service chief executive Pauline Howie said: “The professionalism and commitment of all of our staff, especially when faced with the most challenging situation is second to none.

“These awards recognise some fantastic examples of that high level of dedication and the recipients should be very proud of their achievements.”
