Voting for this year’s Midlothian Food and Drink Awards continues for another fortnight.

Pubs, cafes and restaurants across the county are vying to win one of eight categories.

Organised by Midlothian Tourism Forum and Midlothian Council, the awards, now in their fifth year, have attracted support from a number of local businesses.

Category sponsors are Itihaas (Best Place for a Coffee), JB Foods Ltd (Best Place for a Pint), IKEA (Best Cafe Lunch), Costco (Best Place for a Takeaway), Arthur McKay (Best Customer Service), Springfords Chartered Accounts (Best Restaurant for Lunch), Flowers by Lamb (Best Place for Dinner) and Buccleuch Estates (Best Producer).

Carol Wright of Springfords, said: “We’re in the habit of supporting and encouraging the businesses we look after to go the extra mile so we’re delighted to be sponsoring these awards as they do just that by rewarding local businesses in the food and drink sector who have excelled.”

Ros Gilardi from Costco, added: “We like to support our local businesses and we are members of the local chamber of commerce. It’s a great way to get our brand out to potential new members as well as supporting our current, loyal members.”

Andy Elmer, visitor services manager at Dalkeith Country Park, said: “Part of the redevelopment at Dalkeith will include a restaurant and café that aim to offer the highest quality ingredients and local produce, so the sponsorship is the ideal fit.

“Also, as members of the Midlothian Tourism Forum, we’re keen to support local events, partners and fellow local businesses as much as possible.”
