A NEW bench has taken pride of place in the courtyard of Midlothian Community Hospital after being donated by Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council.

On Monday, March 26, it was officially handed over to the hospital by community council chairman, Ian Baxter.

He told the Advertiser: “The new Midlothian Community Hospital is a tremendous asset to the people of Midlothian, and we are very pleased and honoured to have it situated within our own community.

“The community council felt that we would like to mark this by donating something which patients and visitors would find useful, and a bench seemed the ideal gift.”

David Small, general manager of East and Midlothian Community Health Partnerships, said: “Bonnyrigg and Lasswade Community Council played a vital role in the consultation and development of Midlothian Community Hospital and we are delighted to accept the donation of this bench from them.”
