A business initiative, started to increase the footfall in Penicuik town centre, has produced a promotional booklet for the town.

Penicuik First, the Business Improvement District scheme for the town centre, is distributing ‘Journey to Penicuik’.

The booklet is the first a series of projects to encourage shoppers and visitors to the area.

On Friday, June 5, the inaugural Penicuik monthly market will be held in the predestrian precint from 10am to 4pm.

At present, town centre businesses are voting on approving the Penicuik First business plan to put the BIDs initiative on an official footing. Votes have to be in by May 26.

Penicuik Councillor Derek Rosie (SNP) said: “The whole point is to show businesses what can be done. This is how we can promote the town.”
